We had a guest speaker Sarah Swindell - Managing director & Owner of Watermelon Creative, they are a well-known design agency. Good to know that they have an extensive experience in market reports, Licensing strategy, trend alignment, and prediction although they do not manufacture things, which is going to be a very big arear of interest to me owning very well that this accpect will be needed when planning to start up my own business in the nearest future.
It's interesting to know that she was a fashion designer, who still went from making physcial design to agency you can still become some things else apart from making physical designs with your hands. Her talk was very centered more on her them, the services rendered, and the portfolios of their work.
One of the projects they did that fascinated me was the one they had with National Museum where they were asked to study some painter's work and come up with designs that will elevate the artist's work, this is so great as its point light to what my project is all about how to tell your story or better still how to interpret your work through the story.
For me, it’s interesting to know that she’s not a huge fan of freelance unlike some of the lectures we have had so far. I kind of agree with her reasons though (being able to learn from each other, training isn't easy to do remotely, having a tactile product which wouldn't be possible work is digitally done)
Since we have grown past 9-5 in a way and people work from home, I like that they’re still maintaining everyday come-to-work culture.
