Textile and digital fashion are two interconnected trends that are rapidly transforming the fashion industry. Textile innovations are leading to the creation of new materials with unique properties, while digital fashion is enabling designers to create and sell virtual fashion products that can be worn in virtual spaces.
So in this blog I shall be discussing some of my Course lectures and research findings. As technology continues to evolve and consumers become more conscious of their environmental impact, it will be interesting to see how these trends continue to develop and shape the future of fashion.
Textile innovations are allowing for the creation of more sustainable and eco-friendly materials, such as those made from recycled plastic or natural fibres like bamboo and hemp. These materials are not only better for the environment, but they also offer new possibilities for designers in terms of texture, colour, and drape.
Digital fashion, on the other hand, is enabling designers to create clothing and accessories that exist only in the virtual world. This can take the form of virtual outfits that can be worn in video games or virtual reality, or even digital clothing that can be used to enhance social media posts. With the rise of NFTs (non-fungible tokens), virtual fashion is also becoming a new market for collectors and investors.
While textile and digital fashion may seem like two distinct trends, they are actually intertwined. Digital fashion can be used to showcase new textile innovations, while textile innovations can lead to the creation of new digital fashion products. Additionally, as the fashion industry becomes more conscious of its environmental impact, both textile and digital fashion offer new ways to reduce waste and increase sustainability.
